Palin supporters discuss presidential possibilities

SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa (KTIV) -- She sure looked like a presidential candidate. Sarah Palin drew quite a crowd as she signed books inside the Walmart store, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, Thursday morning.
Palin signed copies of her latest book, "America by Heart." More than 500 people stood in a long line -- some for hours -- all for a few seconds of face time with the former vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor.
Spirit Lake is just the latest stop in our area for Sarah Palin. Last weekend, she was in Norfolk, Nebraska and West Des Moines, Iowa.
Two Iowa stops has many wondering what she has planned for 2012. NewsChannel 4's Zach Tecklenburg talked with her supporters about a possible run.
She's yet to announce plans for a presidential run, but many supporters seeing Palin hope it's a serious consideration.
"I'd like to see her run," said Arnolds Park, IA resident Gene Christensen.
She was a small town mayor, and served less than a full term as Alaska's governor, but many say she's ready for the nation's top job.
"I like her courage. She is willing to put herself out there to stand up for what she believes in and she is willing to do that at any cost," said Spencer, IA resident Jennie Klatt.
"I think she's well-rounded when it comes to knowledge. I think she has a good handle on what's going on in this country today," said Christensen.
Less than two years into the Obama administration, people here say it's time for change.
"We've got to do something. We're going downhill fast," said Superior, IA resident Leroy Huntley.
"Too much government. We're taxed too much," said Arnolds Park, IA resident Barbara Lancaster.
"She's a person with traditional values," said Klatt.
Though most seem sure she's ready to be President Palin, others say they need more proof.
"I'd have to talk to her more, read her book more," Leroy Huntley said.
"I don't know how I feel about her being president, but I like what she stands for and a lot of other Americans are standing for that too," said Worthington, MN resident Lester Johnson.
If she does decide to seek the presidency, Palin has almost two years to prove to Americans that she's the right person for the job.
Thursday's event was one of 16 scheduled stops on her book tour. Media access was limited, so KTIV was not able to ask Palin any questions.

  1. The half term governor is a “Dan Quayle” in heels. Since we already had an idiot “W” that caused our current economic debacle, America knows not to trust in fools who think they are brilliant. One of the reason for “W” failure was his drinking, Palin just has bad genes.
